How to Achieve the Perfect Holiday Glow Without the Holiday

Your ideal summer might consist of lying on a soft, sandy beach and enjoying an occasional dip in a stunning blue sea. In reality, it might be very different.

Work commitments or lack of funds could mean you’ve skipped out on the summer holiday this year. No golden glow for you. Just because you missed out on the holiday, it doesn’t mean you should miss out on the tan too!

Self tanners are an amazing way to get your skin looking bronzed without having to spend hours soaking up the sun. And, they are much safer for your skin! If you are heading off on holiday, remember to regularly top up on the sun lotion to protect your skin from those harmful UV rays.

Here are our top three tips and tricks for getting that sun-kissed glow without having to spend any time in the sun.

1. Take it slow for a natural glow

To make self tan look natural, one of the most tried and tested ways is to give gradual tan a go. The tanning pigments in gradual tanners are diluted, so it’s easy to build up a flawless golden glow that’ll have you looking like you’ve just returned from a week in the sun in no time.

Using a gradual self tanner is an easy step to add into your daily routine. While you’re in the shower, gently exfoliate your skin to remove any dry patches. Then, pat your skin dry and apply a layer of our Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk to moisturise the skin and create that perfect holiday glow.

2. Tan strategically for a flawless finish

Once you’ve built up a sun-kissed base, take it one step further to achieve an all-over flawless finish. Apply extra self tan to areas of the body that would usually become more sun-kissed than others. It’s a great tip if you have super fair skin, or if you prefer a barely-there tanned look.

Get your hands on our GLO range for an instant sculpted tan. Apply to your collar bones, shoulders and forearms and gently buff with a self tanning mitt for a flawless finish. You can even use this technique on your face. Focus on applying to your cheekbones, forehead and nose for a subtle glow.

3. Perfection is in the final details

Now that you’ve achieved your beachy golden glow, you can make it look even more natural. Just add these simple steps into your self tanning routine.

  • Remove any self tan from the palms of your hands, and from in between your fingers and toes.
  • Use an exfoliating make-up wipe or a small amount our Self Tan Eraser to wipe away any extra residue.
  • Don’t spoil the illusion of a natural tan. Buff around your wrists and ankles with an exfoliating wipe to make sure you tan blends perfectly.

4. Spray tan

If you haven’t got the time to wait for your tan to gradually develop, why not drop into a local salon that uses a Bondi Sands professional spray tan? Simply book into a salon such as Beauty by Ruth and get your tan on. To keep your tan lasting longer over the cooler months, top up with our gradual tanning milk or for those last minute nights out, our liquid gold oil.

Keep rocking that ‘I’ve just landed back in the UK’ look all winter!
